“This collection highlights the power and athleticism of these finely tuned athletes in an artistic fashion that only Schatz himself could create,” said SHOWTIME Sports General Manager Ken Hershman, who conceptualized and brought the ground-breaking tournament to fruition. “We are pulling out all the stops in promotion of the Super Six World Boxing Classic. Having Schatz contribute is a testament to the level with which we will present the tournament to our boxing audience. We have many more amazing elements to roll out in the weeks to come.”
The powerful portraits reflect the strength and the beauty of each fighter’s impressive physique and individual style.
“I let them know that the making of a great photograph is hard,” said Schatz. “It’s like winning a championship. Every athlete understands that immediately.
“I realized that boxers are different from any other athlete. The level of courage it takes to be a boxer and to become a great boxer is awesome. I wanted to make masculine images, so I lit for power and strength. I feel that the boxers and I collaborated to make really rich and powerful pictures.”
