On a card promoted by KO Kings at the Atlanta Holiday Inn Select Capitol Plaza, Anthony “Ice” Greenidge (12-1-1 5 KOs) captured the vacant NABC middleweight title scoring a tough-fought majority decision against Louis Turner (12-2, 8 KO ).

In the first round, both fighters started sharp at the bell. Greenidge, however, was able to use his height adequately and kept the fight on the outside as Turner struggled to get inside of his taller opponent.

In the second, Turner turned it up, jumping out of his corner to land consecutive right hands that caught Greenidge off guard.  Greenidge recouped well and landed a sharp left, right combo to close out the round.

Rounds three through seven of the highly contested eight-round fight were mirrors of each other, as both fighters took turns landing and trading. Realizing that the fight was in the balance, both combatants came out aggressive in the eighth and final round.  Although both visibly tired from their battle they closed out the last ten seconds slugging it out in the center of the ring.

Judges’ scorecards read, 79-74 for Greenidge, 76-75 for Turner, and 76-76.

Hendrix remains unbeaten

In the co-main attraction, Tyrese “Head Honcho” Hendrix (14-0-1, 6 KOs) stayed unbeaten as he scored a lopsided boxing lesson to the game, but outclassed Luis Bolano (41-11, 31 KOs).  Hendrix thrilled his hometown supporters using his speed and agility to catch Bolano’s thudding pace.  Bolano did manage to catch Hendrix a few times with looping overhand rights during the bout, but it was to no avail as the cards read, 59-55, 58-56, 60-54.

Hendrix is now looking to continue his rise in the super lightweight division and is willing to take on all comers.
