Motivated Morales strong, fast and fit for Limond

At the final press conference before he fights for the WBC Super Diamond Lightweight Championship, legendary Mexican fighter Erik “Terrible” Morales declared himself strong, fast and fit.

Taking questions from the mostly Mexican press corps, Morales complimented his opponent, Scotsman Willie Limond. "He looks strong, well-trained.” But Morales cautioned anyone who thinks that he might be at a disadvantage to his younger opponent. “It's not easy measuring yourself with a young fighter. I have over 10 years in title fights and I do not think he can beat me.”

Morales has spent a lot of time this week taking part in numerous events celebrating the Bicentennial, but said he is still fresh and prepared for Saturday.

“I'm looking for my fourth world title in different divisions. That scenario motivates me.”

Limond, who has trained hard for this fight but hasn’t participated in many of the festivities, was short with his comments. After greeting the crowd in Spanish, he spoke only briefly: "It's an honor to be in Mexico and face Erik. See you on Saturday at Plaza Mexico."

Mexico’s Ana Maria Torres and Germany’s Alesia Graf, who will fight on the PPV undercard on Saturday, spoke to each other with obvious mutual respect. Torres referred of her opponent as the best fighter from Europe; Graf is honored to fight a great Mexican boxer in Mexico.

The weigh-in will take place this Friday at noon at the University in Mexico City.

"Mexican Fiesta," presented by Matiz Business Group, is distributed by Integrated Sports Media live from 9 PM / ET - 6 PM / PT on both cable and satellite TV, formatted pay-per-view for a suggested price $ 29.95.

World Boxing Hall of Fame inductee Col. Bob Sheridan (blow-by-blow) calls the fight alongside former NFL player and veteran boxing announcer Benny Ricardo (color analyst).
