LOADED UNDERCARD FOR STAR BOXING'S NYC SHOW DEGUARDIA PICKING UP RIGHT WHERE HE LEFT OFF IN 08'
On Friday February 13th, Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing will put on NYC's first compelling night of fights for the new year. The card, which will take place at New York's famed Roseland Ballroom, and be broadcast live on ESPN's "Friday Night Fights", will feature some of boxing's brightest Stars, and be headlined by a fantastic welterweight showdown between Star Boxing's Alexis Camacho (17-1,16KO) and Carlos Molina (14-4-1,5KO).
THE NEW RAY ROBINSON
In the co-feature bout of the evening, which could turn out to be the fight of the night, two undefeated up and coming southpaws will put there unblemished records on the line in a must see fight. Philadelphia's undefeated 23- year-old prospect, "The New" Ray Robinson (9- 0,3KO) looks to continue on his path through the jr. welterweight division when he takes on his toughest opponent to date, Rochester's undefeated 20-year-old Darnell Jiles Jr. (8- 0- 1,3KO) in an eight round jr. welterweight contest. For the Star Boxing promoted Robinson, who was named as one of the "Five Best Prospects to Watch in 2008" and as one of the "Sweet 16, Philly Boxing Prospects on the Rise", it will mark the first time the young prospect will fight as a co-feature on national T.V.
Star Boxing's hot light heavyweight prospect Yathomas Riley (5-0,3KO) will look to continue on his path through the light heavyweight division when he takes on Julius Jackson (2-2). The hard punching Riley is scheduled to open the ESPN2 telecast. It will be the first time the young Riley will have a chance to showcase his skills on national T.V.
THE BRONX'S CRAZY EDDIE IRIZARRY
The Bronx's undefeated featherweight prospect "Crazy" Eddie Irizarry (5-0,2KO) will take on the toughest test in professional career when he takes on fellow unbeatenGuillermo Sanchez (6-0,2KO). The all-action Irizarry made his much anticipated pro-debut in 2008, and continually excited New York City audiences each time out. The fight with Sanchez is scheduled for six rounds in the super featherweight division.
DENIS "MOMMAS BOY" DOUGLIN
2008 New Jersey Golden Gloves and Diamond Gloves middleweight champion, Denis "Mommas Boy" Douglin willmake his pro-debut when he takes on Robert Irrizary (2-6) in a scheduled four rounder. The 20-year-old Douglin had a decorated amateur career, compiling a record of 89-8, and winning numerous championships and tournaments, including being a two time Junior Olympics champion, Junior Metro champion, NY Metro champion, NYS Golden Gloves champ, two time New Jersey State Golden Gloves champion, and 2007 Diamond Gloves, PAL and Ringside champion.
BRYANT "THE FIGHTING COP" PAPPAS
Yonkers Police Sgt. Bryant Pappas (8-0,8KO) puts his unblemished record on the line when he takes on Chris "Sugar" Ray (8-2,8KO) in a four round middleweight contest that is sure to bring early fireworks.
Rounding out the card will be New Jersey heavyweight Terrell "Baby Bull" Nelson (8- 7,5KO) taking on Wes Taylor (7-12- 1,7KO) over six rounds.
