LENROY “TNT” THOMAS BATTLES FRIDAY NIGHT IN TAMPA
HEAVYWEIGHT PROSPECT LOOKING FOR BIGGER FIGHTS IN 2009

TAMPA, FL, (April 9, 2009) Returning home after a Las Vegas training camp with boxing superstar Winky Wright, heavyweight prospect Lenroy “TNT” Thomas will battle veteran Wes Taylor, Friday night, April 10th, in the six round co-main event at “HOMECOMING”, an action packed card at the Sun Dome in Tampa, Florida.

The main event features the return of former world champion Jeff “LEFT HOOK” Lacy who will face Otis Griffin in the ten round main event.

“The camp in Vegas was great for me, sparring with Winky was a terrific experience, he needed a tall southpaw before his fight with Paul Williams so it worked out well for both of us” said the 24 year old Thomas.

Born in Jamaica, now fighting out of St. Petersburg, Florida, the heavy handed Thomas has run off 11 straight victories after losing his pro debut three years ago.

Georgia resident Taylor brings a record of 7-12-1 into the battle with Thomas, all of his wins coming by way of knockout including a first round stoppage of 2000 U.S. Olympian Michael Bennett.

Most recently, Thomas won a unanimous decision over Terrell Nelson on February 21st at the Mecca of Boxing, Madison Square Garden, on the undercard of the Top Rank promoted Miguel Cotto/Michael Jennings world championship bout.

Continued Dan Birmingham trained Thomas “Working with Chet and the TKO team I feel very comfortable that they will get the right fights for me this year. I want to fight often and I want to prove myself to the fans each time out..”

Said TKO BOXING Promotions’ Chet Koerner, “That’s the key for Lenroy, we need him to stay busy in 2009 and ideally get him a TV fight where the whole country can see him shine. The heavyweight division is a wide open landscape and we expect Lenroy to make a major impact this year.”

“It’s always great to fight at home in the Tampa area, even more special on this card. I know how much it means to Jeff and I can’t wait to put on a great performance for the fans” said Thomas.

Doors for “HOMECOMING” open at 7pm and the action starts at 8pm. Tickets are priced at $18.50, $40, $85, $135, and there are a limited number of $200 Platinum Ringside seats. Tickets are available at the USF Sun Dome box office. VIP packages are available by calling 813-503-8109.
