JESSE BRINKLEY: “Hey, Jermain, What Are You Waiting For”?

Super middleweight contender Jesse Brinkley hasn’t heard back from former world champion Jermain Taylor since he updated his “hit list” last week and the Northern Nevada native has grown restless.

Taylor is coming off a very hard fought battle against WBC Super Middleweight Champion Carl Froch on Saturday, April 25th, a fight he was winning on the scorecards before being stopped with just seconds left to go in the final round.

“So far, not a word. I watched the Froch fight again and it’s obvious he’s way ahead at the end of the fight. Fifteen more seconds and he’s the winner. I figure he’d want to get right back in the ring and tear someone’s head off—I’m more than willing to give him that opportunity”, said the world ranked Brinkley.

“He fought a very solid fight against a sometimes awkward, mostly aggressive fighter. Froch’s only chance was to hit a home run late in the game and he did that, but that shouldn’t take away from Jermain’s performance.”

This past Valentines Day, Brinkley brutally hammered away at his long time local rival Joey Gilbert for twelve rounds, pitching a near shutout towards a unanimous decision victory in front of a packed house of 7,000 fans at the Reno Events Center.

“I’ve lost and gotten myself back up and I’m sure that’s what Jermain wants to do. I have the utmost respect for him, always a class act in and out of the ring. I know he likes to fight at home, as do I. While I’d rather fight in Reno, I’m fine with going to Little Rock” said Brinkley. “I think we matchup very well, we can both box and at some point we’ll probably take to a phone booth style of fight.

Winning his last seven in a row, the 32 year old Brinkley has improved his record to 33-5-0 with 22 knockouts. He is currently ranked #10 by the IBF.

The 30 year old Taylor, a bronze medalist at the 2000 Olympics, boasts a record of 28-3-1 with 17 knockouts.

Brinkley is co-promoted by Reno, Nevada based “Let’s Get It On” Promotions and TKO BOXING Promotions of Las Vegas.
