MICKEY BEY JR. WINS BIG IN HOUSTON, TEXAS

Undefeated lightweight prospect Mickey Bey Jr. went into the proverbial lion’s den this past Saturday night and came away with an eight round split decision victory of Rashad Ganaway by scores of 77-75, 77-75 and a head scratching 76-79.

With the win, the 26 year old Bey improved to 13-0-0 with seven knockouts, while Ganaway moved to 10-2-1 (7KO’s). The Bey /Ganaway bout took place at the Toyota Center on the undercard of the HBO televised Juan Diaz/Paulie Malignaggi bout.

“We’re very proud of Mickey’s performance, Ganaway was undefeated and had fought numerous times in Texas but he went right down there and out boxed him over eight rounds” said Chet Koerner of TKO BOXING Promotions about the Cleveland native.

The win over Ganaway was Mickey’s first outing of 2009. Continued Koerner, “This win puts Mickey back into play as a highly regarded lightweight prospect. TKO is going to keep him much busier than he has been in the past..”

Details of Bey’s next bout will be announced shortly.
