DAT “BE DAT” NGUYEN VS. ANDRES LEDESMA IN
HOUSTON ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10TH

All action Vietnamese featherweight Dat “BE DAT” Nguyen will face Columbian banger Andres Ledesma on Saturday, October 10th as Chet Koerner’s TKO BOXING Promotions presents “HIGH STAKES”, an evening of world class professional boxing at Houston’s Arena Theatre.

A native of Bien Hoa, Vietnam, now living in Vero Beach, Florida and training under the guidance of former world champion Buddy McGirt, the 26 year old Nguyen, 16-1-0 (6KO’s), will battle Ledesma, 15-14-1 (10KO’s), in an eight round bout.

Nguyen thrilled Houston fight fans on May 28th with an action packed eight round decision over Carlos Hernandez at the Arena Theatre, following that up with a unanimous decision win over Noe Lopez Jr. on August 22nd, in front of a huge crowd at the Pala Casino Spa and Resort in Southern California, running his current unbeaten streak to five.

Said Koerner, “Dat personifies electricity from the minute he leaves the dressing room with his traditional “Mua Lan” Vietnamese lion dance. Once the bell rings he has the fans on their feet throughout the fight with his 'no holds barred' manner of fighting.”

“Dat truly is a road warrior in the sport of boxing. He has fought all over the country and has won over the fans everywhere he’s fought. We’re thrilled to bring him back to the Arena Theater on October 10th.”

The 29 year old Ledesma is also returning to the Houston area, having battled two time world champion Jesus Chavez in an outstanding back and forth battle prior to being stopped in the ninth round in a bout which took place at the Toyota Center in September 2008.

Continued Koerner, “Ledesma is a very tough Columbian who has fought numerous prospects and world champions over his eight year career. This fight should be a battle from start to finish as neither Nguyen nor Ledesma will give an inch in the ring.”

In addition to the Nguyen/Ledesma bout, also featured at HIGH STAKES” will be local heavyweight knockout artist Eugene “MEAN GENE” HILL, 17-1-0 (14KO’s), local middleweight prospect and MMA champion KJ Noons, 11-2-0 (5KO’s),. sensational Houston based newcomer Gerardo “TIN TIN” Ibarra, 4-0-0 (3KO’s), world ranked flyweight Rayonta Whitfield, 22-1-0 (11KO’s), undefeated lightweight Mickey Bey Jr., 13-0-0 (7KO’s) along with Dominican welterweight KO artist, Francisco “THE PHENOM” Contreras, 10-0-0 (10KO’s).

Starting at $25, tickets for “HIGH STAKES” can be obtained through the Arena Theatre Box Office (www.arenahouston.com, phone 713-772-5900). The Arena Theatre is located at 7326 Southwest Freeway (between Bellaire and Fondren) in Houston . Doors on the evening of the event will open at 7pm with the first bell at 8pm.
